Yılmaz Çelik comes from Dersim where many Zaza people live. Their language is on the verge of extinction, as the young generations mostly speak Turkish in their everyday lives. There is however a big musical repertoire in Zazaki language, often telling the dramatic stories of uprisings and ethnic cleansings that took place across the centuries in that mountainous stronghold.
